An animator and artist by training I never thought I would do anything else, it was my dream job. Then I discovered photography and realised that there is a lot in common between telling stories through film and animation and finding stories through a camera lens. As a result I come to wedding photography with a slightly different perspective, an eye for what’s going on all around the bride and groom and a weakness for a quirky sense of humour. I keep things simple and relaxed with minimal posing and use natural light 99% of the time. If I have the privilege of photographing your wedding I will blend in and look for the images and moments that tell the story of your day and your relationship, images that are unique and natural and unprompted. A wedding day is full of emotions, stories, moments of belly laughs and tears, some of them you will be part of, but so many of them will be happening all around you and will pass you by in the excitement of the day. I see my job as an observer and storyteller, not as a director or distraction so your day unfolds naturally.
Of course I’m happy to take those all important family group shots but these are kept to a minimum and are “posed” informally so as to take as little time from the party as possible. Also, I’m delighted when the bride and groom allow me to steal them away for awhile to take some special portraits of just the two of them but again, these are kept relaxed and fun and I will work with as little or as much time as you want to give me.
